Right now, I am making 배추국 - 맛있어요! (Baechu guk - Its yummy) Its only tasty because I make it with love.
But seriously, its really good. Sometimes I put Tteok in it. I like TTeok... or Mandu. ^^ yummy!

but anyways, I'm kinda bored because my nampyeon is ...playing Sims 3... too much right now. I played yesterday and the day before (while he was gone) but today I didn't, at all.
So now that I figured out that there are really interesting people on youtube that vlog everyday (or nearly everyday) I have become addicted to it a lot more. Although out of all the popular/famous youtube channels I watch, I am only subscribed to one popular channel. hahaha I'm awesome ^^


so today, I basically had two Ahjumma stare me down as I passed them. It really makes me feel uncomfortable because they had an air about them that was "I'm better than you, so I'm going to glare at you while you pass and then gossip later about you".
Its not really a friendly attitude. ... I mean a lot of other people are nicer and stare at me like "she's cute" or "omg, its a foreigner" but in an air that is curious instead of bitchy... (sigh)

Yeah, that's about it for my day. I drank lots of coffee. I better cut back because I'm starting to hate my teeth.. they are kinda more... yellow. So... That's my first sort of new years resolution. I still have until Feb 14th until Lunar new year, so I can start then ^^ because Asia is cool like that.

Here is a list that I'm going to make up now:
1) drink less coffee, more green tea (matcha)
2) stop buying random(I mean really random) junk
3) read 100 books before the next lunar new year
4) stop being so lazy
5) clean more, cook more, eat better things (ex: cut down on the ramyeon)
6) start running/jogging
7) Vlog more
8) Upload when you make the video and not 2 weeks later hahaha
9) learn/study korean harder
10) always be cute and loving towards all people, as usual ^^

Studying Korean 1월 24일

So today was very interesting,

On Sundays, I am now tutoring a boy who is about 10 years old (Korean Age), Grade 2 of elementary. I am tutoring him English Grammar and holy HELL! He knows more about it than me... He speaks fluent, natural English because his father spoke to him in English since he was born, so he is completely bi-lingual. His father works for a foreign bank (Australia-New Zealand Bank - I believe) here in Korea, so he had to learn English. Its pretty neat, I will totally try that with my future future children because its so cool.

Anyways, the main intent for writing this blog is to mention that, considering I have only been in Korea for 6 months (as of today), I am pretty - or somewhat but not actually - fluent in Korean (Just a VERY little fluent.)

Here is an example of my fluency - I had tried studying Japanese for 6 years (age 13 - to age 18) and I don't speak a word of legible Japanese (is that a proper sentence??) and in the 6 months that I've been here, I can carry on a small conversation of broken Korean/English (Konglish). and at least I can get my point across.

I am very please with myself. ^^ I can't wait for another few months, then I'll be a lot better. I know my pronunciation is super super good, unlike a lot of people.
People who use romanized Korean or Japanese are doomed and will never learn real pronunciation and no one will be able to understand what they are saying.
To me, using romanization of Korean gets me super confused and gives me a head ache.
Plus, in Hanguel, there is one way to spell things, with romanization; there is more than 10 ways to try and spell a Korean word and they are all wrong.

Like what the hell is this : jwe-song-ha-ji-mahn. ?? or this jeo-nun han-kook-o-rul jo-gum-bah-ke mo-tahm-ni-da. <-- I can't even read that in English.. how the hell will I pronounce it properly in my life! Unless I read the Hanguel I will never know. My Fiancee can't even understand these weird romanizations.
and wtf ---> mahn-na-bwep-ge dwe-o-seo bahn-gahp-soum-ni-da. Wow... that is one effing long word. According to the website that I got it off of - to get some examples of what gives me a headache (which shall remain unnamed) - It means, "I am very glad to meet you. "
But... I learn "Nice to meet you" as 만나서 반갑습니다. (and in Romanization I would spell it as - 만나서 반갑습니다 because I don't even know the Romanization AHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!)


ANYWAYS, enough of my rant! I am going to edit more youtube videos ^_^

(I forgot the English name of the station because I don't know the English versions of the station names because I'm one of the smarter people (foreigner) in Korea to actually learn hanguel and only know the Korean station names. *sighing at dumb people*

I may try a Korean learning thing, also on my Vlogs. I really like this one guy from Korea name Hyunwoo Seon and he is really good at English and actively teaches Korean.

English Camp!

There is this event that goes on at some places called an English Camp. Its where kids go to after school to do activities, roleplay and games in English. Its so much fun.

I did my first English Camp on Friday and I would love to do it again.

I got to be an Immigration Officer and I asked for their passport, names, age and where they were from and they had to answer me in English, then I put an Immigration stamp in their passport and they went to line up and get their tickets ready and memorize where their seat was and then they went on the plane...

Here they pretended to be on an airplane and the flight attendant asked then questions in English ("what would you like to drink?") and they answered in English and were given their item.

Here is another fun room, after the airplane they went to another room and did a play about three goats and a big troll, in English. It was tons of fun!

Here they were making telephone lines out of cups.

And then they played Bingo, in English, and even got good prizes. ^^

I will totally do it again. I can't wait to do another one

bad day

Sorry for the really late response. today has only just started and its bad. i was on the bus when i remembered that i forgot my materials. so i got off at the next stop and got them. this time the bus was packed, i got pushed by ahjumma. then on the subway got pushed by an ajossi. then a full thrust out of the way by another ahjumma. it really sucks so now I'm pissed what else can go wrong


anyways, several hours later, I continue this post...
nothing bad happened ^^ I am very pleased. The kids were really good today. They absolutely love my hand crafted stories (stolen of course but still printed, cut coloured and glued all by me)
and baby monkey. Oh, how he is so cute.


So... I have this little cardboard cut out of this cute cartoon monkey in diapers, his name is Baby monkey and he is cold when its winter, so we roll dice with pictures of a coat, scarf, boots, hat and sweater and but the corresponding winter clothing article on him (yay for Velcro!!)


Its fun. Now for Christmas.. I have to figure out what game to play because we cant really use baby monkey for Christmas because my theme will be Christmas for all of December yay!

second time at a sauna

went with faith, a friend I met two weeks earlier and we all went out to eat in gwanghamun, we got stuck in sindorim station because we were on the last train and thats were it was stopping at, but our station is 15 or 20 minutes further and all the busses were stopped.

after midnight the taxi prices go up and we didn't have enough money to take a taxi and our friend didn't have any cash on her, so we ended up staying overnight at a jjimjilbang (public bathhouse).

we showered and then soaked in the tubs for up to an hour and then met jang ik at the co-ed (clothes) room. The floor was heated and there were sauna rooms that were blazing hot or ice cold. They h

So! This is how it all goes down...
Monday; 10 - 12 at a school called 이화 유치원 Iwha Yuchiwon (yuchiwon means kindergarten)
Tuesday; 10 - 1 at 고은 유치원Ko-uen and 2 - 3 at some other school(forgot the name)
Wednesday; 10 - 2:30 at Wizard of Oz Kindergarten
Thursday; 3:30 - 5:30 tutoring at a place in 서현(seo-hyeon) (which in about 55mins away by subway)
Friday; 10 - 1 at ko-uen kindergarten and 2- 3 at that other school (yes again)

And then weekends off. Omg I'm so busy... but still not money yet. I will be getting it.

Also, tomorrow at my most favourite kindergarten (Oz), we will be doing an outside activity all day so I have to dress warm. AND! I promise to bring my camera for it so I have pictures! It would be blasphemous to not bring my camera. The heavens would rain sulfur down on me and turn me to salt... well.. not really, but I promise this time I really do.

Korean Trad. song and dance

I know I promised pictures but I forgot to bring my Camera.
But this day, some of my classes were cancelled because there was a Korean Traditional Song and Dance performance at the Kindergarten. (not dont by the kids, but by some of ther teachers.)

I have videos on my cellphone, but when I put them on the computer and tried to upload them to youtube and blogger, the sounds was gone.
I have to firgure out how to make the sound stay and turn it into .avi or something.

This is the Phys Ed teacher using Korean Drums. The kids love what ever he does. They really respect him I think. They are really the greatest kids so far. I really enjoying playing and teaching them. ^^ I have to think of some cool activites or games we can play with our books. I would be so fun. Maybe I'll introduce baby monkey to them kekeke

Its kinda far from home, but it gives me money yay!

So now, I have 3 jobs which then I should be racking in the money!! (lol jokes)

Tomorrow I have my Wednesday kindergarten class at Wizard of Oz Kindergarten.

No more crochet

For a while at least. My fingers hurt and all I can think about is "single crochet single crochet, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 chain 1, repeat"
So, here is the finished product with her new dress

Front of the dress. This is supposed to be a dress for Kelly (barbies sister)

and the pattern was different from the other dress I made, so this one doesn't really fit my bunny.

So, I added more rows and make it look like a corset....sort of.

in real life it looks better.

My freetime

I know this is a random blog now... since I am going to post about my free time.
So, today, I had a nice long day off to do nothing and that's exactly what I did...nothing.
Well I did crochet all day and I even have some pictures of my work. I follow patterns, of course.

Maybe some know, that when I lived in Vancouver I had taken up the hobby of crocheting. I had done some knitting before but nothing ever got done and the language was too hard.

Teacher! Teacher!

This is what I heard on Wednesday and Thursday.
Do you have any idea how cool it sounds when a cute little Korean kid calls you teacher(in either English or Korean)? Its so awesome.

I'm really tired today :( Yesterday (Wednesday) was lots of fun and made me tired because I was singing and dancing and playing. Actually on Wednesday I had to wake u[ at 7:30 to catch the bus to the subway and then a 60minute subway ride to the school...
I slept in until 10am today. (I have been getting up early lately, yay go me)

She is 6 (i think). Totally cute! She goes to an all English Hakkwon (a private school), so her English is ok. I tutor her after her sister for about 30 mins. I just read a book, talk and play ^^

First Day at Kindergarten

So, today was my first day of kindergarten but this time I wasn't the little 4 year old....
I was the Seon-saeng-nim(선생님) - the teacher. I only go there on Wednesdays though ^^
It was tons of fun! They are the cutest little kids ever! I love Korean kindergarten. The youngest kid in Korean kindergarten is around the age of 2 (because Korean age counting is different. InKorean he would be 4 - yeah weird) and the oldest would be around 5 (7 Korean age).
But they are really smart kids ^^

So, its a 3 hour day with lunch in the middle and lunch is from the school (so Korean food-yum!)
My time is as follows:

next week when I go to school.

Anyways for this month, the theme is time, so the books I got to read were
5 year old class: Five little ducks (OMG do you remember this book?! I do)
6 year old class: Ten little monkeys (jumping on the bed!!!)
7 year old class: What's the time, Mr.Wolf? (actually this book sucks and the song sucks too...there are barely any actions to do while reading it...)

With the first two books there are ways to get them to remember the material by asking them a question like "how many monkeys?" or "1,2,3,4,5 ducks..... 1,2,3,4 ducks... uh oh...where?"
Exactly like that. And of course the monkey book is my favourite!! Because I know the song soooooooo well.. I don't even have to read it hehe "5 little monkeys jumpin on the bed, one fell off and bumped his head, mama..." lol you know the rest.

Well... today is not really a good day.

I am making tons of lesson plans by compiling TONs of very different information from all over the Internet. Why am I doing this? Well Tomorrow - Wednesday the 7th, I may have a job. Although its not full time, it does let me live. I will use it to get experience, and I promise I'll be rolling in Cash haha lol.

Anyways, I have been building and making my lesson plans for about 2 weeks now. Its fun and not fun at the same time. I use the paint program to make additions or changes to a lot of worksheets and stuff.

Its really hard to find really simple things for kids that don't speak English. But I was told to use a lot of songs, games and stories and to me LOUD!! (OMG!! I GET TO BE LOUD!!) but... I used to be loud... sometimes I wish I still had that.. I'm going to have to drink 10 dixie cups worth of coffee to be hyped up tomorrow. I have to wake up at around 7 or so to get to the interview by 9:30 am. The station is kinda far from my home.... and then I believe I work at 10:30 - 2:30 ... with an unpaid hour break.

All ya'll must wish me TONS of luck!! They are kindergarten kids!! AHHH!~~ Suuuuuper cuuuute though. My recruiter had given me a training session, sort of..., and

I got to watch a teacher do her thing and I got lots of info from her. I'm so happy I was there. I was scared it was going to be hard but guess what.... ITS NOT!!

also, I do tutor a 9 year old girl. Her English name is Lucia. (...eh?) and her real name is Ye-Na. wow.. but she is really cute and is really smart and speaks really good English (BTW her mom speaks NO English lol)
Ye-Na is learning vocabulary, grammar (omg it so sucks, she hates it..and so do I. but we do it to make her mom happy), and reading... We have to do MORE reading (really 1.5 hrs is NOT enough time). Her reading is sort of good but her pronunciation is brutal...

<--This is Ye-Na I will also be tutoring her little sister, In-Young (aka Rachel), for 30 mins after Ye-Na Her little sister is in Kindergarten I ADORE her and she ADORES me. She goes to an all English kindergarten (talk about really tough for a little girl). I will just be singing with her and reading her books with her. In-Young can read SOOO much better than Ye-Na... I wonder why...

<-- This is In-Young - In Korean age In-Young would be actually younger than our average kindergarten kids. She would probably be in preschool in Canada... but their age system is weird. If you teach a class of 4 year olds, they are most likely between the ages of 2 and 3....so young..!! Anyways, the point of this original post was to mention that I have a cold and it SUCKS!! I've got that annoying gross mucous stuff and dry throat and some sneezes. Other then that I'm fine. I've been getting lots of sleep and drinking gallons of water. I don't have a fever so don't worry hahaha.. Sorry I still don't have information about Korea still... I cant explain the weird things that happen here...

I'm just hanging out at my BFs school while he has class. We'll be heading off to eat lunch in 1.5 hours. Its 1:30pm on Monday, September 5th. I've been having loads of fun. Of course I miss you guys but I am doing fine still. I promise you.

hopefully I will master Korean quickly. i am getting a little better, I can say a couple more phrases than before. All Koreans get surprised even if I just say "hello" and "thank you" in Korea. lol ^^

2009/08/22 First Official Day in Korea.

Well, this is the first time I have been out of North America and so far, it's really good. This is how it began: First, my awesome mom and dad drove us down to Vancouver on Thursday 18 and we stayed at a hotel right near the Vancouver International Airport. We arrived in Vancouver at like 1 or 2am in the morning. I didn't sleep on the ride, only about an hour nap. I don't remember when I feel Asleep but when I woke up we were at Luckacuck St in Chilliwack and, randomly, my Dad wanted FatPills(a.k.a Timbits) and a coffee. I got my mom to get me a little one.I didn't drink for like another hour and a half. I always do that.. if I get a normal coffee, I'll let it sit in the cup for up to an hour before drinking it. (I used to do that when mom drove us to work an hour away from home) But If I get a Latte or something like that, I'll usually drink it right away ^^ mm Lattes.SO, then everyone had a drink (alcohol), except for me because I was tired. I just went on the computer for a bit and then brushed my teeth and went to bed. The clock in the hotel was an hour fast, so I thought I went to bed at 3am. lol but it was only 2am. That's funny. so, when I woke up, I thought it was 6 but it was 5am, then I went back to sleep until about 7am. Everyone groomed. The shampoo and conditioner in the hotel fucking sucked. It was oily and there wasn't enough for my hair. I was pissed about that.Breakfast was actually good, of course it was a continental breakfast but I had this cool concentrated grapefruit juice. It wasn't sweet at all, but I wanted to try it. It actually tasting like a grapefruit, so I but a bit of sugar in it and then it was fine. I ate a croissant and half a mini muffin, heated with butter and a bowl of rice crispys, no sugar with milk. (I usually don't drink milk much anymore, it hurts the tummy a bit and BFs stomach doesn't like milk).After breakfast we packed all our stuff for our carry-on and headed out very quickly.The drive to the airport, at which is like 10 mins from the airport when there is no traffic, took like 25 or so minutes. Mom and Dad dropped us off at the international area but they weren't able to stay for long because it was drop off only. We exchanged hugs and kisses and goodbye. My voice crackled with the want to cry because, of course, I'll miss my family, but I didn't cry. I almost did. I would have bawled my eyes out if mom and dad stayed longer. I believe they cried, but there is nothing wrong with crying. I just don't like to do it in public too much. Then we entered Vancouver International airport, the gateway to and from Asia. lol We went to the check in desk and then I remember I forgot to tell my Mom something so I had to run to the fucking payphone, to call my mom it would have been $2.05 but the damned phone wouldn't take my damned loonies. The piece of crap payphone! But the call was to no avail because I went to the Service/information desk and they let me call my mom. I made it seem like it was an emergency but it wasn't really too much lol. But all I got was the answering machine. I didn't know if she was in an area were cellphones don't work or if it was off. I believe that she just didn't hear it. Oh well. What sucks though, is I felt so naked and vulnerable without my cellphone. I felt that my whole trip. (I'll tell more later)So then I just gave up and joined Jang Ik (my boyfriend, he's Korean ^^) at the baggage check in. I guess one of the bags (his of course) was a bit too heavy, so we scrambled before we reached the desk to take some stuff out and put it intpo one of the smaller bags that were naturally lighter lol. It wasn't fun scrambling. We had the proper weight before we got to the airport, because my buddy at the Gas station in Barriere, BC (small town) was nice awesome enough to allow us to use the weight scale (its used because a greyhound stops at the gas station).

Everything went smoothly from the check in to departure. We were there like 2 hours before departure. And I updated my friends and family that I was close to leaving.
Take off was simple and easy and they must have done a perfect job pressurizing the cabin because I had no problem with my ears or anything. I was so surprise, GO AIR CANADA! lol

I watched some movies: I tried to watch the Hannah Montana movie but I didn't make it 5 minutes into the movie and shut it off. (I don't think I can handle an hour and a half of hannah montana) but I watched 17 again - which was funny, weird and creepy-ish all at the same time, then Monsters and Aliens - which was a really good movie. It was awesome ^^
and then some weird-ass movie called adventure land. It fucking sucked. I was like hey, thats the girl from twilight, how can she go from this dirty movie to a near kids movie...?
All the drinks were complementary, and I didn't know that the alcoholic drinks were complementary too. Damn it! lol oh well. The meal was alright, the first one was braised beef on rice and some weird cheesecake thing that was way to soft and creamy to be cheesecake and Jang Ik got the pasta, the pasta tasted funny. Then I forget what the second meal was, lol.
Anyways it was a Looooooooooooooooooooooong 8hr30min flight (we were actually in the air for about 6hr30min or so hours). The landing was easy and I got some good pictures of Japan and its farmland ^^ It was 3:30pm on Friday the 20th when we arrived.

Customs was somewhat easy, they weren't that nice but they were doing their job.
We got all our luggage delivered safe ^^. We exchanged Canadian to yen. for $100 cad you get 77yen back. That sucks. We changed 250CAD. After that we put our luggage in lockers. It cost 500Yen each locker, we used 3. (cost an extra 500yen each to open the locker)
We took our back packs and our one carry-on with us and then we headed to the JR line. It
We took the JR to Narita, it cost us 1000yen each to get to Nippori. Then from Nippori to Iidabashi it cost us 130yen each. It was dark when we made it to Iidabashi. Then we went to the Tokyo International Youth Hostel. I had to ask where it was. Of course I asked in Japanese. I was pleased that I know some Japanese ^^
Even with some directions, we had a hard time finding it. Even though it was almost in the same building as the subway. After we checked into the hostel, we were in separate rooms :( , we went out to get something to eat. We were both really tired and somewhat grumpy but overall, we were happy.
There was this shop where you pay for the food first at a ticket booth and then by the time you sit down, your food is ready. I had some beef with rice, it was good and Jang Ik had Pork with rice. I couldn't finish it, so Jang Ik ate the rest. The beef was really nice, it looked like shaved bacon ^^
After eating, we were finally able to go to bed. I had some trouble sleeping. I basically woke up every hour or so and I was fully awake at 6am. I got to view a beautiful city night on the 18th floor at 4 am in the morning, by myself (through glass)

That morning i had a shower but it wasn't a normal American shower.. it was the Japanese style public ones (only public to the people in the hostel) I was so shy.. but at least there was only one girl in there and she was pretty much done soon after I got in. We talked. I spoke some Japanese with her. Her English was understandable. She was cute ^^
After she left, I went and showered. I'm glad no one came in. I don't like undressing in public ^^;;
We ate breakfast at 7am. It was just toast, egg, sausage and salad. It was yummy though. I drank two cups of coffee and OJ ^^


Then we headed off to Shibuya. It was really neat. I also got to see some really cool little streets of Japan. We got hungry but it was really early so nothing was open for food. We hit up a convenience store and had some "pudding".We ate and then it was about time to head back to the Airport. We took the subway to Nippori, we were making good time but we were 50yen short and the guy didn't let us buy a ticket. I mean its 50yen for crying out loud! So after about an hour of searching for a damned exchange place (ended up going 30 min and back to another city that finally had a exchange bank, and then finding out there was an exchange bank just one station from Nippori) we went back and bought our ticket. We were an hour late for our plane, but luckily there was one more plane leaving Japan for Korea 10 or so.We met the airline ladies when it opened at 8pm to get our new ticket. It cost 200$ for us to change it. Which with exchange rate made us lose almost 300$.That really pissed me off. I SWEAR to anyone - DO NOT go to Japan until the yen falls below the dollar.
We were really hungry and had to wait a couple hours, so we we hit up Subway at Narita Airport.

The plane ride to Korea was about 2 hours. It was a noisy flight, like Air Canada Jazz (I hate Jazz - its BS!) and Jang Ik and I were really tired. We were served dinner really early, it was REALLY yummy but it took me Two hours to eat because I was falling asleep in it. lol. Not fun. I had a restless night prior to this plane ride. It sucks. anyways, by the time I finished my meal, we were almost landing and the Flight Attendants were trying to get me to hurry up so they can put it away. haha. So we landed and had received all our luggage in a timely manner - it was 12am. We were disoriented and tired. We found out that all buses and subways would be done when we arrive in Seoul. But to our luck, there was a bus that would take us to Seoul but after that we would have to find our own way to get to Namyangju. There was this really annoying Taxi driver that kept on bugging me and Jang Ik to ride in the cab instead, but it would be bloody expensive.I ran to get some money exchanged and it cost us 20,000won (20$) to take this coach from Incheon to Seoul. We didn't sleep yet. By the time we made it to Seoul, it was 1am in the morning and we were really about to pass out. haha. The bus stopped at a really nice looking, expensive hotel. Jang Ik had to look for a pay phone so I sat quietly by myself nearby. Always looking out for him though, so if anything happened I could yell to him,A lot of drunk people walked by, I really don't think they noticed me because they were too drunk lol. But I turned my head every time they walked by, just in case. Jang Ik called his Dad to pick us up and he did. The moment his Dad pulled up infront of where I was, I knew who he was and I said "Annyeoghaseyo."I told him, in Konglish, that Jang Ik was over there, pointing to a pay phone - because he was gonna call his dad again to see where he was. It takes about 1.5 hours to Namyangju from where we were.


We got to the Apartment and walked to the 2nd floor, where they lived. His mom, at first sight was cute looking woman. After getting settled, we sat and talked - well, Jang Ik was our translator, as they don't speak any English and I don't speak any Korean. haha... His mom said that she didn't think I would be cute, but I am. Because of stupid American media, she figured I was going to be tall, fat, and have a big pointy nose, but nope - I'm cute ^^ Hehe




And this is my travel so far, I will try to blog some more when I get the chance to do so.I have nothing really to talk about from August 22 - October 1st. Really... not much..I will try to fill in some things on random days in the past that I experienced or saw... If i remember. I really have a hard time telling my experiences - I really have a weird life.....




This was my first time outside North America and it was a fun trip, so far. So, I hope you liked it!

Vancouver August 9th.

Two Beautiful Lovers

In the first picture, My face is all red and has unseen bumps on it. :( I must have reacted to something.

This is Jang Ik and I in Vancouver before we moved to Korea yay ^^

We had lots of fun, although... I didn't get a job until two months before we moved and... it was only weekend and statutory holidays (though that did mean double time and a half, ha ha ha) and also, any shifts that people want off to go do things.

I totally spent more money than I made, and we made it to Korea with $400 each.

Um yeah... I had forgotten to post this post a long time ago.. because I was testing this blog out and something messed up how I wanted my pics. But now(March 7), 8 months later I fixed it a bit. ha ha ha

So.. um, I won't do this style again... it kinda sucks.
